The White Sox have now lost 14 games in row – tying the franchise single-season losing streak record that they set earlier this year – after getting swept at home by the Seattle Mariners Sunday afternoon.

Despite the looming trade deadline, Garrett Crochet took the mound one last(?) time for the Sox, pitching just three innings, and throwing just 64 pitches.

Seattle got on the board quickly this afternoon. After a 1-pitch flyout to lead off the game, new Mariner Randy Arozarena hit an infield single, bringing Cal Raleigh to plate. Raleigh launched a 379-foot home run to put the Mariners ahead 2-0, and the game out of reach (kidding. Kind of.)

After the Sox went down in order in their half of the first, Seattle got right back to work. Dylan Moore hit a ground-rule double over the center field fence and Mitch Haniger walked, putting men on first and third. Leo Rivas eventually grounded to Nicky Lopez, scoring Moore on a fielders choice, making it 3-0, Mariners. After 2 more singles, loading the bases, Crochet escaped the jam by getting Cal Raleigh to pop out.

The Mariners weren’t done getting to Crochet. Jorge Polanco led off the top of the 3rd with a single, advancing to second on an error by Paul Dejong. With 2 on and 1 out, DeJong had another error, this one scoring 2 runs:

Chad Kuhl came on in relief of Garrett Crochet in the top of the 4th. Seattle liked the change. Victor Robles hit a ground-rule double on the second pitch of the at-bat. Randy Arozarena walked, and Cal Raleigh struck again, hitting a single to left and scoring Robles.

The Sox got a little something cooking in the 7th. Andrew Benintendi hit his 9th double of the season to right field with one out. Paul DeJong came up with redemption on his mind after his 3rd inning errors and hit a 430-foot bomb to center field, making it 6-3 Seattle.

That’s the way the score would remain.

Can the White Sox lose tomorrow and break the all-time franchise losing streak record of 14? Tune in to find out!

Womp-womp.
