We did it! Another double-digit losing streak is in the books for 2024. This 10-game slide is closing in on this season’s (and TEAM!) record 14-game streak in May/June.
Coming off a 10-2 drubbing Wednesday night in Arlington, the White Sox will take the field one more time against the Texas Rangers before heading home to face the Seattle Mariners.
Jonathan Cannon will be taking the mound for the Sox this afternoon. Cannon has given up 4 runs in each of his last two outings (against Kansas City and Baltimore), which doesn’t bode well for this game, seeing that the offense is averaging just 1.7 runs per game since the All-Star Break.
On the hill for the Rangers will be Max Scherzer, for just the 7th time this season. Scherzer – who had back surgery during the offseason – exited his last start after just 2 innings due to arm fatigue. He’s 1-3 on the season, with a 3.99 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 29.1 innings. We’ll see if he rebounds this afternoon – the White Sox offense is generally just what the doctor ordered for scuffling pitchers.
