Grifol steered the team through a 28-89 season, including TWO record-setting losing streaks of 14 and 21 games. His final W/L percentage as a major league manager? 0.319 (89-190) – good for 3rd-worst in history. The question is: why did it take so long?
Also let go in the purge: bench coach Charlie Montoyo, 3rd base coach Eddit Rodriguez, and assisting hitting coach Mike Tosar.
Grady Sizemore has been named interim manager.
