Rangers 2, White Sox 1: Turned Up To 11!

Even with the horrible offense and the pedestrian 2-1 final score, some history was made at Globe Life Field in Arlington today. This was the White Sox 11th loss in a row – their second-longest streak this season, behind the record-setting 14-game stretch that ended in June.

This 4-game series sweep was the 4th of the year for the White Sox – it’s their 15th time getting swept overall. Whew – let’s get to the particulars!
Max Scherzer wasted no time in adding to his strikeout count, getting both Luis Robert Jr. and Andrew Vaughn to strike out swinging.
Jonathan Cannon had some traffic in his half of the first. Marcus Semien led off with a single that was erased by a double play and he walked Josh Smith. Wyatt Langford hit a fly out to left to end the early threat.
In the top half of the 2nd inning, history was made as Eloy Jiménez was called out on strikes and Max Scherzer moved into 10th all-time on the strikeout list:

Cannon had more traffic in the second, allowing 2 singles with one out. Leody Taveras lined out and Andrew Knizer struck out to end the threat.
In the top of the 3rd, the Sox would score their requisite run on a walk by Brooks Baldwin, who was doubled home by Korey Lee for the early 1-0 lead (there’s no video because the White Sox social media team didn’t care).
The Rangers got that run back in a hurry on a Marcus Semien leadoff homerun:

Corey Seager followed that with a single. A flyout and a walk later, Adolis García grounded into a double play to end the threat and the inning.
The Rangers scored the final run of the ballgame in the bottom of the fourth. Nathaniel Lowe led off with a double and moved to third on a single by Robbie Grossman. Lowe scored on a forceout one batter later.
Folks that tuned in were rewarded with this little baserunning treat by Eloy:
