Garrett Crochet took the mound for possibly the last time for the White Sox – giving up 2 runs over 4 innings and taking the loss – as the Texas Rangers took game 2 of the series by a score of 3-2. The White Sox have now lost 9 games in a row and sit at 27-76.

The Rangers wasted no time in getting to Crochet. After a leadoff ground out by Marcus Simien, Crochet gave up back-to-back singles to Robbie Grossman and Josh Smith. After a strikeout by Wyatt Langford, Adolis García got the scoring started with another single to right field:

One pitch later, the White Sox are gonna White Sox:

The Sox would get that embarrassing run back in the 3rd. Korey Lee led off with a double to right. After Luis Robert Jr. struck out and Andrew Benintendi popped out and every Sox fan watching knew they were going to leave a man in scoring position stranded again… Andrew Vaughn came through with a base hit to make it 2-1, Texas:

Crochet would go on to finish the fourth, completing his day with 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 7K. It was another short outing for our ace, but understandable since the Sox are trying to limit his innings for either themselves going forward or a potential trade partner.

Justin Anderson pitched a clean fifth inning and Chad Kuhl pitched a clean sixth.

In the 7th, after a leadoff walk to Jonah Heim, Tanner Banks replaced Kuhl and retired the side. He had no such luck in the 8th.

Marcus Semien led off with a single to left and was sacrificed to second on a bunt by Leody Taveras (a sacrifice?! what’s that??). Banks then made a throwing error on a pickoff attempt, moving the runner to 3rd. Then Josh Smith doubled, scoring Semien, and making it 3-1, Texas

In the top of the ninth, Andrew Benintendi hit his 8th homerun of the season to right field to cut the lead to 3-2, Texas:

Despite what John Schriffen thought, it was not enough as Andrew Vaugh and Gavin Sheets struck out, and Eloy Jimenez popped out to end the game.
