With the last-minute trade deadline exits of Paul DeJong, Tommy Pham, and Eloy Jiménez, Tuesday’s lineup looked a little bit different.

But, the results were the same.

The Sox have, once again, broken the franchise record for consecutive losses – this time eclipsing the franchise non-single-season losing record of 15, as the Kansas City Royals beat the White Sox 4-3 after another late-inning meltdown.

The White Sox got on the board first again, taking advantage of a Nicky Lopez leadoff triple to right. He’d score on a Michael Wacha wild pitch. 1-0 White Sox!

The Royals tied it up in the top of the 3rd on Michael Massey’s 9th homerun of the season.

Andrew Vaughn broke the tie in the 4th on a HR down the left field line that would have gone out of 30/30 parks, making it 2-1, Sox.

Jonathan Cannon had a terrific outing, giving up just the Masey HR. His final line: 7.0 IP, 1 H 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 K. In the top of the 8th inning, Cannon was replaced by Fraser Ellard, making his first MLB appearance.

It didn’t go great.

Ellard issued a leadoff walk to Maikel Garcia, who took second on a wild pitch. Hampson flew out, but a 4-pitch walk to Freddy Fermin was enough for Pedro Grifol to pull the rookie after just 3 batters and bring in Justin Anderson to gas the fire.

With men on first and third and only 1 out, Bobby Witt Jr. hit a bloop single to center, scoring Garcia and moving Fermin to second.

Vinnie Pasquantino then laced a single down the left field line. He’d be tagged out at second, but the 2 runs would score, giving KC a 4-2 lead.

The Sox would threaten again in the 8th. After singles by Nicky Lopez and Luis Robert Jr. (sandwiched around another strikeout by Vargas), Andrew Vaughn grounded out to second, bringing in another run, making it 4-3 Royals.

How low can they go? Can the White Sox reach an MLB record 20-game losing streak? Tune in to find out!
