Series Preview: White Sox vs. A’s

by | Aug 5, 2024

The White Sox head to Oakland Coliseum for the last time on Monday for a 3-game set against the A’s.

The White Sox have pushed their franchise record losing streak to 20 games, haven’t won since the All-Star Break, and have been swept 6 times in a row. Let’s head to Oakland!

Ky Bush is slated to take the mound in the opener, making his White Sox debut. Over 14 starts at Birmingham, Bush is 5-3 with a 2.12 ERA on 78 Ks to 32 walks.

Johathan Cannon will have the second game. Fresh off a stellar start against Kansas City (7 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 2 K), Cannon will face off against Ross Stripling, who is 1-4 in his last 5 starts.

Davis Martin will round out the series and try to rebound after a rough first major league start, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks and 3 strikeouts in just 3.2 innings.

The A’s are 46-67, currently in last place in the AL West. They’re a terrible team. And, they’re NINETEEN games better than the White Sox.

Fun Fact

The 1961 Philies hold the MLB record for consecutive losses at 23. Should the Sox continue this streak, their 24th loss will be against the Cubs on August 9th.

Prediction

I think the Sox take the middle game of this series, halting the streak at 21 and disappointing fans everywhere.
